Our commitment

Language and design should not become barriers to accessing information, guidance or resources — particularly for people directly affected by crises. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA.

What is in place

• Every text and background colour pairing is contrast-checked individually rather than assumed safe by extension from an approved pairing.
• Colour never carries meaning on its own — crisis types, statuses and chart series are always labelled in text as well.
• A skip-to-content link, visible focus outlines throughout, and full keyboard operability of navigation, filters and forms.
• Semantic headings, landmarks and form labels, with image alternatives on every non-decorative image.
• Animation is suppressed for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
• Body text is left aligned with generous line spacing, and line lengths are capped for readability.

Known limitations

• The interactive maps are harder to use without a mouse. Every map is accompanied by the same information as a list, which is keyboard-accessible.
• Some published documents are PDFs that may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Tell us if you need one in another format and we will provide it.
• Bangla-language coverage of the site is incomplete and expanding.
